Application
Requirements
• Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 19, as of August 1, 2008.
• The conference is open to young women students in the United States and across the world.
• Applicants must be proficient in English.
• Students must have an aptitude and interest in political science/government, public diplomacy/world events, journalism, community activism and/or business and be willing to convene with other young women to discuss political processes and cultural issues.
• Applicants must demonstrate leadership qualities.
• Applicants must have an interest in and participate in community service activities and/or extra curricular activities.
• Applicants must be able to work with a variety of individuals and teams from many different cultures, backgrounds and religions.
• Applicants must provide a general health history with the application.
Applying as a Delegation
• Applicants are encouraged to apply in delegations accompanied by a teacher/chaperone. Delegations are defined as a minimum of two applicants and maximum of five applicants, accompanied by a teacher/chaperone.
• Costs associated with the 2008 Women2Women International Leadership Conference will also be covered for teachers/chaperones by the conference organizers
• Special consideration will be given to applicants accompanied by a teacher/chaperone, and applying as a delegation.
Financial Responsibilities
Costs covered by the conference organizers:
• Air travel to and from the conference
• Ground transportation in the United States
• Food
• Lodging
• Transportation to and from Lesley University
• All costs connected to speakers, and conference development and implementation
• Empower Peace will not cover costs associated with the visa or passport application process.
Costs covered by the participant, her family, and/or sponsoring agency:
• Incidental costs
• Costs associated with securing passports
• Costs associated with securing visas (approximately $100 USD)
• Transportation to and from airport in participant’s home country/state
A W2W conference task group will collect all applicant materials, assemble the complete application, and select the participants. Final acceptance for this conference will be made with consideration for the geographic, racial, ethnic and diverse backgrounds representative of the W2W Conference. The participants will be notified by phone and mail by the second week of June 2008.
