Participants will be briefed on the conference schedule, as well as hearing from conference Co-Chairs Diane Caldwell and Shahid Khan, and conference organizers Rick Rendon and Tricia Raynard.

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm “The Fire Next Time” Movie Screening and Discussion
Langdell Hall North, Sponsored by Program on Negotiation, Harvard Law School
Over a stormy two-year period, "The Fire Next Time" follows a deeply divided group of Flathead Valley, Montana citizens caught in a web of conflicts intensified by rapid growth and the power of talk radio.

Being a skilled negotiator can give you the confidence to ask for what you need and the ability to get the results you want - in your community, at work, and at home. Learn why negotiation is a core leadership skill and how you can be a better negotiator. This workshop will be hosted by Susan Hackley, Managing Director of the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. The workshop will include negotiation exercises and a discussion of the importance of preparation and process in negotiation, skills and strategies you can put to use right away, and ways in which women succeed and fail as negotiators.
11:15 am – 12:45 pm Building a Career
Meet top women leaders and learn more about their journey to the top of their field. Hear first hand from these dynamic women about the challenges and responsibilities they face in their respective careers, ethics in business and what it's like to lead in today's global economy. Panelists include Dorothy Orszulak, Sister Lena Deevy, Christine Sullivan, and Melissa Ludtke.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is dedicated to the memory of our nation's thirty-fifth president and to all those who through the art of politics seek a new and better world. Located on a ten-acre park, overlooking the sea that he loved and the city that launched him to greatness, the Library stands as a vibrant tribute to the life and times of John F. Kennedy.

Participants will discuss their day’s activities with conference co-chair Diane Caldwell.

Meghan Behrnard of Lesley University will lead a group art project targeted at enhancing a sense of unity as a group. Each participant will be asked to create a collage, drawing, narrative, poem, or a combination of any/ all of the above relating to a number of quotes by famous women leaders. The finished product will reflect the participants’ answers to questions such as: “How do you see yourself as a leader?” and “Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years?” Pages will be collected, color-copied and bound into a collective journal for each participant.

Participants will visit the Boston Massachusetts State House, the oldest in the nation. The one-hour tour will teach you about the architecture and history of the State Capitol, see the House and Senate Chambers, and learn about our state insect, the Ladybug.

Patriots' Trail Council Girl Scouts
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm Women in the Legislature
This exciting workshop will feature a panel of established women legislators from both the Massachusetts State Senate and House of Representatives. Senator Joan Menard (D) will be facilitating the panel discussion where these esteemed elected officials will discuss personal and professional obstacles in becoming an elected official. Panelists will also discuss the challenges of being a leader in a traditionally mal dominated arena.

The international community demands the best of leaders. Learn from several notable female leaders whose work involves their interaction with a number of global entities. Moderated by Jeanne Shaheen, the workshop panelists will discuss how their personal interaction with various international regions has helped shape their career path, as well as the private work they do.

Meet leading media professionals from across the country. Hosted by journalist Jane Christo, this workshop will address the significant role that the media plays in shaping the important global issues, specifically in the Middle East. Panelists will also discuss personal and professional obstacles news directors and media personalities face with each story that they cover.

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Experiential Conflict Resolution
In this interactive participatory arts-based workshop facilitated by Prof. Vivien Speiser, students will explore their strengths and sustainable capacities for promoting peace in their own communities. Recognizing that peace requires active participation from the members of a community, through a drama-based activity participants will enact and embody the visions that they hold for
fostering this participation. Together they will form their own community ties that will represent a larger connection, and commitment, to peace with each other and across the world.
4:15 pm – 5:30 pm Motherblood
Motherblood, a short play performed by Susan Niesenbaum and Saphira Linden, is an encounter between two mothers, one who is Israeli, the other is Palestinian, both of whom have survived significant losses. They struggle with each other, sharing a wide range of feelings regarding their complex personal and political situations. This is a meeting that changes these two womens’ lives. It promises to move you as well.

Students will enjoy a traditional American style BBQ while
listening to the sound stylings of JAMN 94.5 FM’s DJ Pup Dawg.
