Peace is proud to announce that the Women2Women -
America will take place from August 9 - 16, 2008 at
Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts,
USA. Cambridge is a suburb
of Boston.
The goal of W2W is to provide young women students from around the world with the opportunity to learn, network, and acquire the leadership and professional development skills needed to succeed. Participants will also meet and interact with their counterparts from around the world.
The core theme of Women2Women - America is International Women's Rights. Sub-themes will involve: cultural leadership, government and public service, and media technology and media literacy.
The program is open to any young woman aged 15-19 and who is proficient in English.
Those chosen to take part in the conference must have demonstrated interest in leadership development, the democratic process and public diplomacy. The conference is our effort to empower young women to become future leaders.
Conference Information:
• W2W 2008 is taking place from August 9, 2008 – August 16, 2008. August 9th and August 16th are considered travel days.
• Seminars, workshops, events, and other meetings are scheduled all day every day during the conference.
• Participants are required to partake in every conference activity.
• W2W 2008 will take place in and around Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
• Participants will be housed in dorms at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA during the entire conference. Students will have at least one roommate – most likely a student from another delegation.
• Empower Peace will provide all participants from outside Massachusetts with round-trip transportation from an airport close their home to Boston’s Logan International Airport. Empower Peace will also provide transportation from the airport to the conference, and to all conference activities. All participants will be fully responsible for transportation to and from the airport in their home country.
• Applicants from Massachusetts must obtain their own transportation to and from the conference.
• Empower Peace will provide all meals during the conference.
• Empower Peace will NOT accommodate any special requests to extend a participant’s stay in Boston or the United States. Every participant is required to depart Boston on their scheduled flight from Logan Airport.
• If accepted, participants will be required to obtain a valid passport (if they do not already have one). Empower Peace will then work with that participant to secure a visa to travel to the United States.
• Empower Peace will enroll international participants in the Visit USA HealthCare Insurance Plan.
